Terms and Conditions for the Bet You Can Jan campaign

 

Version 1.0.  Effective from 26 December 2016.

 

1.     Definitions:

a.        “Better Futures for Gamblers” or “Better Futures” means Better Futures for Gamblers C.I.C., a social enterprise which is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, and registered in England number 09605646.

b.        “User” means someone who has voluntarily signed up to the “Bet You Can Jan” campaign.

c.         “The Campaign” or “Campaign” means the “Bet You Can Jan” campaign which aims to promote one month’s abstinence from gambling during the month of January. This is intended for people in the UK only.

 

2.     Services provided

a.        The User understands that the Campaign is not gambling treatment.

b.        The User understands that the Campaign includes brief advice which they are free to accept or reject.

c.         The User enters into this Campaign voluntarily

d.        The User understands that they may return to gambling at any time without any penalty or ill feeling.

e.        The User understands that the Campaign is not a wager on whether or not they can give up gambling for one month. The User understands that the words “Bet You Can” or “Bet I can” are merely terminology to fit in with gambling language.

 

3.     Costs

a.        The User understands that Better Futures is a social enterprise and exists to help those who are addicted to gambling. The Bet You Can Jan Campaign is not targeted at this group; it is targeted at recreational gamblers.

b.        The User is under no obligation to pay for taking part in the Campaign.

c.         It is explicitly hoped that the User will contribute to the Campaign, in order to help fund services to people addicted to gambling.

 

4.     Data provided

a.        The User agrees that Better Futures can use the data they supply for the purposes of the Campaign.

b.        The User understands that no personal data will be shared with third parties, except in clauses 4.d. and 4.e. The User may choose to Tweet, post via Facebook, or otherwise communicate their participation in the Campaign, and this is through personal choice and at their own risk.

c.         The User agrees that their data, once fully anonymised, may be used in research, for statistical purposes, and for quality improvement. This anonymised data may be used by Better Futures or by third parties.

d.        The User agrees that, in the event of their death, their records may be released to relevant parties, eg coroner.

e.        The User understands that data will not be shared for any other reason, except in the exceptional circumstances defined under the Data Protection Act 1998.

f.         The User understands that they have the right of access to ask for a copy of their data held by Better Futures at any time, under the Data Protection Act 1998.

 

5.     Follow up

a.        The User agrees that Better Futures may follow them up for the purpose of monitoring outcomes, up to 6 months from the point of joining the Campaign.

 

6.     General liability

a.          No warranty is provided that the Campaign will be successful in helping the User to stop gambling for the month of January.

b.          Best efforts are made to ensure advice is accurate and helpful. Despite this, there may be errors of fact or interpretation, and the User must judge the advice given .

c.           If any one or more provisions above is found to be illegal or unenforceable in any respect, the validity, legality and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not in any way be affected or impaired thereby.
